I would be inclined to agree with the view that you have too much to be concentrating on, when attempting to tame one of the mighty eagles of the skies flown by the average PPL, for you to be riffling through your favourite Manilow compilation or whatever (and think of all those times people crash their cars whilst fiddling with their stereos), but, having said that, I recall reading of some (ostensibly serious) research that indicated that listening to certain music, especially Bach's sonatas and partitas and Mozart's chamber music is actually conducive to intense concentration. It is apparently thought that thrash metal, the Clash's second album, and anything involving Kylie do not fall into the category of mind-enhancing music, which is perhaps a pity, but there it is.
