Budget around £100 - £200 (don't laugh!)
Not laughing. You dont need to spend any more than that.
I bought a Casio Edifice EFA-119 a little over a year ago.
Pictures and specifications
Things I like about it:
"Glow in the dark" hour and minute hands and dial for analogue display.
Press button or automatic (by selection) backlighting for digital displays
(
Glaring omission in my previous "pilot" watch, Citizen Wingman - no light!! What, you guys don't go fly at night?
)
Countdown Timer
Stopwatch
Hourly alarm
30 timezones, INCLUDING the unusual half and quarter hour offsets from UTC (again, Citizen Wingman unable
)
Thermometer in C or F
Not particularly useful, you have to take it off your wrist for a couple of minutes to read OAT - it reads temperature every minute and if you are wearing it, it reports your skin temperature.
Cost me AU$75 from a Singapore eBay trader.
Looks? Gets compliments from cabin crew and other pilots, but not from the watch enthusiasts. To each his own. I'd rather spend my spare $1,000s on a motorcycle or a boat.
Very happy with it
