The e-mail that Andy sent alluded to possible crew redundancies. Is this the case or will the surplus of crew be managed a different way?
Our predictions are that we will need 200-400 less crew as we will have between five and 10 fewer aircraft (due to our accelerated fleet rationalisation). While we will manage this in part by slowing down the recruitment pipeline, it is important to bear in mind that we expect to have 15 more Airbus aircraft in the fleet next year that will still need resourcing in order to meet our plans for growth.
Note: this is less than previously expected, NOT less than that which we have now! The original plan was for 350 new pilots this autumn/winter, obviously somewhat less now but still 200 or so for the 15 new aircraft!
