Brian is right on, it is Norman Wells.

Unless my memory cells are fading, PW was operating DC-6's, later 737-200 combis equipped with gravel kits, on the sched from Edmonton up the Mackenzie valley route to Inuvik during this period. CP did the Edmonton-Fort St John-Whitehorse-Mayo services with DC-6's and DC-3's.

By the way, as some will know already, the fate of the Calgary Air Museum's Mosquito (CF-HMS, mate to this aircraft CH-HMQ) is the subject of serious debate at the moment. Apparently they have tentatively agreed to sell the components in the US for something in excess of $1 million.

Hopefully the citizens of Calgary will recognize the contribution the Mossie made to Canada (1,000+ built by DHC, flown by thousands of Canadians with distinction in WWII). Of course, the mapping of the Arctic laid the foundation for the Calgary oil industry's current focus on the arctic islands and new sources of oil.

Over to you EvansB!
