In 1940/1, I played hooky from school and went to Marshals Cambridge with a London Brick Company lorry driver to deliver bricks there.
As we passed a hangar a black painted Wellington bomber was being wheeled out. It was a magical moment for me and has stuck in my memory all these years.
....that one had two engines......
