Sorry, no way. I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that I need them. I learned everything at high speed to pass the exams and get that licence quick, then over the months and years realised that I knew very very little, and that the more I knew properly about meteorology, air law etc, the better. So I'm going to go through them again - I really will, some day. But of course, this may just be me - I expect everyone else learned it all properly the first time, hasn't forgotten any of it, and is now on to higher things!

A practical point too; the books quickly get out of date, and have changed a lot in the last couple of years with JAR coming along. If you can afford to do a PPL you can afford a few up-to-date books; go out and buy your own. Some of the mail order catalogues - usually free in "Flyer" or "Pilot" give you a good reduction if you get everything you need all at once.
