I live in Lincolnshire and share your concern re the Tornadoes.
During the week the trick is to get above 2000ft as quickly as possible and descend in the ATZ, although I know one guy who had a near miss when a pair thundered across his home field.
Problem is that these guys fly with their heads down watching their terrain scopes.
Tucanoes and Hawks etc aren't as big a problem... they aren't as scary.
