I am fortunate enough to have a strip at home. I live within six miles of a licensed strip and another two private strips! Especially at weekends, I do get very concerned when aircraft fly over and are either low or noisy. In the past I have always been able to prove that noise nuisance wasn't from my strip but generally from training aircraft operating out of the county's largest airport some 20 miles away.
However, during the week I am blighted by low flying Tornados, streaking across the house (and strip)there were 2 yesterday within 20 mins of each other. They can not be 250', they are definetely lower. The noise is scary but what worries me most is me approaching at 90mph on short final and a fast jet in the same area at the same time. Anyway that I can have them recognise the number of unlicenced strips in the area? This may smack of NIMBY-ism but it is in reality a safety issue, I am not permitted to streak over Biggin Hill at 150kts/500'!
I love aircraft but just don't want to see a Tornado too close. The Americans F-15s play at far more sensible height when ACM-ing!
