Upsetting the NIMBYs
Hi All,
I thought about adding this point to the 'airfields under threat' posts, then thought it might be better opening a new thread.
It seems to me that NIMBY's may have something to complain about, i.e. NOISE.
In order to be able to feed my sad addiction to flying, (totally incurable), I once rented a house within the circuit of a half-busy airfield. I have to be honest, even at the 'neighbour-friendly' circuit height of 1,000 feet, it was still pretty noisy on a Saturday afternoon. Yes, much noisier than next door's hover mower. Not as noisy as a passing gravel truck, but little in life is... other than a Cessna Cardinal, of course.
Did I start whining? No, my hypocrisy doesn't go quite that far. However, I can see why non-aviators cry foul.
