Thinking of applying to LGW

Hey guys, I'm living in Brighton, currently a student, but hate my degree! I'm nearly 24 and looking for a career change. Have always had the desire to be cabin crew, but never really did anything about it as lived to far away. now im in commuting distance from Gatwick I'm really considering it.

I know it has been asked a thousand times over, but the basic salary seems so o low? is it actually manageable. Ive got bills and living in brighton is expensive business. The 10 grand basic is a mere £3,000 more than I get from my part time job? I know people don't do it for the money, but I need to pay the rent etc?

Do they pay you whilst training also?..... And I realise that looking the part is quite important, will they disregard you instantly for having the odd breakout?!

Also, should I consider the temp long-haul from heathrow? would the brighton to heathrow commute be manageable? i don' drive so the train takes a couple of hours..
