While drinking is abhorred in Islam and people who indulge in it are said to be cursed and are amongst four types of people whom God will never forgive, its their own perogative.
I doubt many Muslims wanting to bar drinking hve good inetions of seeking mercy of his fellow beings in mind, more like doing away with a decadent western and non-muslim trend.
