The flying magazines (Pilot, Flyer, Today's Pilot) do 'Where to fly' features every year about this time. Get hold of them and look at the options in your area. I would advise you to use the nearest club unless you don't like it for some reason, and I would be cautious about training in the US - you will need a fair bit more training when you come back before you can fly in the UK.
