The benchmark here in the USA back in the golden days of airline pilot compensation was that you could buy a new Cadillac every month...Not anymore, but working for the best (read highest paid) companies you can still buy a Honda Accord or similar mid size sedan for a monthly pay check.
Not sure what kind of car you would get in Norway for a months pay at the various airlines?
But then again, schools and universities are free in Scandiland?
Around here most pilots I know are saving money for the kid's education.
