J41 VLY and LON

The J41 are being operated as Combis to serve the PSO routes to the islands in Scotland so again it would require a change to the PSO for valley for any change of aircraft type. I belive the PSO was awarded for a term of two years at that time it can be reviewed. LON route sorry to pour cold water on this one but its a non starter. Air Wales did not get good loads. Its was ok on a Monday morning and a Friday evening only. From Cardiff it was very poor. Factors to be taken into account are the frequency of the trains we may all moan about FGW but on the whole they do a good job. Costs kill a London service LCY have priced thier landing fees based around 100 seats LHR do not want 50 seats or less plus the slot issue, LGW cost are rising, STN is too far out and LTN is getting full. Also load verses fare and yield has to be taken into account. I no its quaint but airlines have to be able to make money to keep operating dont forget RT lost £32m trying to operate including LON. History proves LON as a non starter. If you read the history of Cambrian they had a regular flight to LHR to position Viscounts this was put up for sale but failed after 3 months with very limited take up.
