It's a shame that there is only a bid system or an allocated roster. Loyalty to a company should be rewarded, but so should staff that are excelling in their job regardless of seniority. A small % of crew on the most popular flights should be reserved to reward less senior QF or QCCA staff who are doing excellent and consistent work. That would promote healthy competition and see the standard lifted. I also dread writing this, but it is a fact that there are alot of keen, eager new faces wanting to come on board and it is a shame that they can not be used on more routes. As we all know the first year in a job is when everything is fresh, exciting and not much gets you down. That energy on all flights would be a wonderful thing
But I live in a dream world
It wouldn't take much to introduce a system where the CSM nominates the best crew on the flight. If their name continues to come up on other flights then they are allowed to be rewarded with a flight of their choice.
