Defence observers scream about the high cost/hour of operating the F-111, but that would sound muted compared to their reaction to the cost of operating the B1R.
I agree though that it would be a very big stick. I had a fairly close look at a standard B1 at the recent Singapore Airshow - very impressive. When I enquired about how much room the crew members had, the USAF rep said, "Just enough for the four crew to squeeze into their seats - this aircraft is built to deliver a big load, not to party in".
