I've just signed up to do my 4 week PPL at FTC in South Africa. Do you have the option of doing a foreign based course? Hang on, hang on!!! Before you all jump down my throat! This is by far the cheapest option for me, but also the most practical. I DO intend to do all my reading beforehand, but I also intend to spend 8-10 hours with a UK instructor on my return to familiarise myself more with UK RT and the more inclement weather conditions. I KNOW! I can't expect 10 hours to be enough for weather training, but it's together with my 45 hour course. I have looked around the UK for cheap courses, but they all guard against guarantees, purely based on the weather. While I would like nothing more than to do a PPL on UK territory, A JAR PPL, based over 4 weeks, including PPL kit (books, case, etc.), single, en-suite accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, ground school, exams, the works!, for only £3500, cannot be ignored.
All the best! <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
