Question Flying Ireland or UK?

Ooh err, I'm confused. If I want to be serious about flying (eventually I want to go and get my CPL in the States) at what point in my training would it be a good idea for me to go to the UK?

My current plan is when I leave school (stayed back two years!) in a year-and-a-half's time, to have had a few taster lessons by then (maybe about 10-15 hours' worth), Go study engineering maybe around London area for a year, doing flying fully in my spare time until I get my PPL, Then (I'll have saved up) going on one of these hour-building CPL work-as-you-learn courses in the states, canada, or maybe even the land of Oz.

Now that plan is probably going to change, I'm just wondering about going to the UK...
