There is plenty of room at CWL for Baby and Flybe. Fly Be don't have the aircraft to challenge baby on the med routes and baby don't have the aircraft to challenge Fly Be domestically. Baby make all their cash at Cardiff on the sunshine routes. Pulling off GLA or maybe BFS wouldn't hurt the bottom line and might help strengthen other routes. Fly Be will do what they always do. Start a load of routes and chop them as and when they don't work. With all the "converted second world war bombers" (a direct quote from a family friend describing their experience of the Dash) they have on order they have to find some routes and I suspect a base will follow if they can make any of the routes pay. At the moment they can experiment with W patterns from other bases. Fly Be, though, will provide CWL with a solid domestic network, if not necessarily a base. Eveyone could be a winner. Every extra airline at CWL helps the airport move forward it's just a shame they always have to try and fly all the same routes !

If the much speculated Baby/a.n.other deal goes through tomorrow expect another aircraft at CWL soon there are plenty of routes and extra rotations baby want to do but can't. If there is no deal CWL will get another aircraft but not until 09 because that's when they can get one. Baby see CWL as at least a 4 a/c base but haven't the resources to realise the plan at present.
