Sydney Airport 34R takeoff path; why the R turn?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone who flies out on 34R (or ATC's), why is it that nearly all aircraft do that hard right turn to take them East?

Why is there not an even distribution of flight paths "fanning out" as they do when using 34L or 16L/R ?

It's like 34R is trying to mimic the flight path that takeoffs on 07 would use, forcing aircraft to make the hardest right turn as soon as they're airborn. Why? Is it a political thing to keep planes away from certain suburbs, or is there really a reason for it.

Cheers, Alex.
