I've been long haul for 35 years and used halcion for about 25.
I used to think I'd never make it to retirement age, my life was hell sleeping was so bad but since Pfizer invented those little purple things it's a breeze. Never considered myself addicted and in general don't use them at home unless there's insomnia after a tour of duty. 2/3 days max.
Before a long haul night flight get up early, go to bed early and set the mood, curtains closed watch TV for an hour and enjoy 3/4 hours real good shuteye.
Never wake up hungover or drowsy, and if I can't get any sleep during the flight it's still not a big deal.
I've been hearing bad things about halcion for years (axe murders etc) but my pills are prescribed by my DME and he reckons use what works for you.
