fernytickles,
Free ice cream? I've only been here 3 years and I haven't found that. But I probably shouldn't. One thing the C140 lacks is payload. And, after considering going back to rag wings, stc lightweight alternator & starter, stripping off the paint and polishing the bare metal, designing and STC'ing a new titanium landing gear myself, adding helium to the empty spaces inside and perfecting an anti-gravity device, I decided to improve the payload the hard way and lose 20 lbs. I'm halfway there.
Thanks kokpit glad you liked it.
TheOddOne,
After years of being stuck in a rut of towing and flying gliders, I'm on the move again. I'm working on my instrument and commercial ratings. Once I have the power commercial under my belt I can take the glider commercial checkride without taking another written. The commercial glider rating is a precursor to the CFIG, certified flight instructor glider. My club was bugging me to go after the CFIG this year, I told them probably next year. I want to spread these ratings out a little bit. I do look forward to instructing for the club though. And, once I have the CFIG I would like to eventually follow it up with a CFI in power. I think the second CFI rating is not as big a leap as the first one. I'd like to teach my kids if they have the interest. They will have the opportuntity but I'd never force it on them. That's cool that you were able to teach your boys. Something to aspire to.
