Smoke poured out the back of a Qantas 737 aircraft as it landed at Brisbane airport this morning after experiencing hydraulic problems.

The flight from Townsville, carrying 129 passengers, experienced problems about 7.40am and landed without incident.

Smoke could be seen coming from the rear of the plane as it landed. It is understood hydraulic problems could be to blame.

All passengers were kept on board for at least 10 minutes while the plane waited on a taxiway to be towed to the terminal. No one was injured in the incident, a Brisbane Airport spokeswoman said.

The plane was scheduled to land at Brisbane. The incident was likely to cause slight delays to departing flights this morning.

Engineers were inspecting the plane this morning to determine the cause of the emergency.
