Iberia has just got rid of the BCN routes and its unprofitable ones.
And started Clickair ( 20% ) to screw Vueling and get rid of some less profitable routes.
They know there is oversaturation in the market
Buying Spanair now does not add up, with all the domestic routes and the Bcn base it just gave up. Unless the plan to cut those routes after buying Spanair. Otherwise the strategy makes no sense.
