Some years ago I had the pleasure of working with a particular controller who, whenever he issued an airways clearance, would refer to the destination by its subsidiary name, as a matter of principle. It would often confuse the pilots of course. i.e. "cleared to Middle St George, via...FL...squawk...
However it was quite interesting to realise how many airfields have at least two names, sometimes more. e.g. Cardiff-Glamorgan-Rhoose, etc.
