.... There are arguments for and against grass runways - Conington's is ashphalt, which means there's one less thing to bring a halt to the flying.
Continuity is a major consideration when you are learning - and what with our 'climate' playing it's hand to restrict flying, having a runway which does not get waterlogged is well worth contemplating.
Most important thing IMHO is to visit the places you are considering to get a feel for the instructors, aircraft and amenities.
