Staying Airside whilst in the UK

The UK are changing the tax rules from 5th April 2008.

More than 90 days in the UK, now including day of arrival and departure, will make Manx travellers resident in the UK for tax purposes.

New rules suggest that if you stay airside during transit in the UK it will not count as a day. However going to a public place such as the landside check-in desk will count as a day's UK residence for tax purposes.

Raises some questions for frequent travellers. For example:

Is it possible to go to Gatwick (SOUTH) with flybe and then transfer to the NORTH terminal without going landside?

I presume IOM to LHR would require a routing via MAN and then using the transfer desk to check-in?

Does anyone know if you have to go landside with VLM at LCY if you are through ticketed to europe?
