As the person who quoted him, I would like you to know that I was quoting verbatim from a recording of him speaking to BBC News. Not, note, a report quoting what he had said. And, before you suggest that the Beeb could have edited what he said to change its content, I would also like you to know that, as a sound editor myself, I do not believe that that happened today.
He definitely said that
an airborne early warning aircraft
was one of the RAF aircraft involved.
