John111, I think you are being a little unfair about Monarch.

We have spoken extensively on another website for cabin crew. There I told you that I was a temp at Manchester and that nobody there was ever promised permanent contracts at the end of the summer season. From Twinklinggem's comments, that she was advised from the beginning that it was a temporary contract, it appears evident that people interviewed at Luton are told the same thing.

Those things added to the fact that it is stated clearly in the contract that it is a temporary contract clearly show that Monarch do not systematically promise permanent positions at the end of the summer season, which is the sentiment I feel you are spreading. I also get the impression that your arguments are based on hearsay. I would be interested to know where these comments in forums from other people are and suggest you are a little bit more discerning about what comments to take with a pinch of salt.

Certainly here in Manchester, and I know also in Birmingham, it is widely known that a permanent contract is never guaranteed and the prospect of having to find work to fill in the gap is always a possibility.

Please don't paint a bad impression of Monarch for those people visiting these forums who are interested in applying for positions with them. I have never had a company be more clear with me about my position before. Explaining that permanent contracts may well not be available at the end of a temporary is sufficient to clarify a point.

And just to point out to those people who may be visiting this forum for information on the prospects of getting a permanent contract with a company, it is my understanding that in the past Monarch have been much more generous about offering permanent positions than other charter airlines where it can sometimes take up to 5 years to made permanent.
