As A SLF I too have had embarrassing moments .
When my kids were at junior school I always tried to bring back an item of interest for the class from my trip.
I stopped on the way to the apt and bought a length of sugar cane for about 50p from a roadside stall. The guy kindly chopped it in half and tied a tatty bit of string around it. I got an upgrade and quickly hid my gift in the corner of the wardrobe of the BA 747. My plan was to be last out of the cabin and the secretly collect my gift.
Unfortunately the ever helpful CSD found it when handing out the jackets and paraded it round the cabin held high, like a trophy, enquiring " Does this belong to anyone?" with a look of disgust on his face
I could not let the kids down so with a red face I claimed it.
