At the end of the day does it really matter?
I fly with many airlines... whcih vary from great on demand systems like Qantas to not very good systems like I believe on a Delta flight last year... which for a long haul to Cincinati from UK only had screens in the middle of the cabin..
I never really use the systems much... and if there isn't one available I just chill out, read a book and get some sleep...
Also do find it a bit annoying how some people insit on having their headphone volume REALLY loud so you can hear it a couple of rows back.... some people are trying to sleep
