Personal experience is that sometimes it works & sometimes it doesn't. There still appear to be some dependencies in the underlying Microsoft OS. My home PC runs it fine, but my PC at work doesn't - when we tested we got ~50% of PCs working with it.
It isn't anything special, really Microsoft's answer to Quicktime & Flash, but some sites are already delivering Silverlight content - eg MLB in the US.
