Most accurate is looking out the window or asking someone at your destination. It might be me but in the last 20 years I am sure the forecast accuracy has got worse. Last week flying from Dunkeswell to pvt site in Glos.
Metars and Tafs gave 35 kts gusting 48 at Bristol, much the same at Filton usefully Glos was not giving any info. 40 mins after getting the info on finals to my site, Filton ( 9 miles away ) gave the surface wind as 7 kts ???????
