Where did you get that from?
The investigation found that the engines on the A320 at Habshiem
did spool up on command, in fact they spooled up
faster than manufacturer data predicted.

This combination led to impact of the aircraft with the trees. The autothrottles, and the aircraft, did as they were commanded.
