<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size="2">An investigation is underway after two people died when the light aircraft they were travelling in crashed.
The plane came down shortly after taking off from Stoughton Airfield, near Leicester just after 0930BST on Saturday.
The Cessna 152 is thought to have stalled in the air and it ended up in a nearby rape seed field.
A man and woman, who have not yet been named, died at the scene, said a Leicestershire police spokesman.
More than 40 firefighters used specialist water and foam appliances to deal with spilt aviation fuel before a police surgeon could get on board.
The Civil Aviation and Accident Investigation Bureau has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

In a separate incident a light aircraft crashed near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
The Rand KR2 aircraft came down in a field in Upton, close to Coney Lane, just after 1400BST, Lincolnshire Police said.
A nearby resident managed to release the pilot from the wreckage.
The male pilot was taken to Lincoln County Hospital by air ambulance.
It was not known if his injuries are life threatening. </font>
