As you said everyone has his/her own personal reasons to chose were to live etc etc....
But, just a small suggestion, (my 2c) living in Dubai & around it is good, but I'd recommend property location from Dubai Marina 'South-West BOUND' ONLY.....
Having said this, to avoid the Northern-Eastern part of Emirates Road, & or Al Garhoud Bridge or Deira side.....for LONGGGGGGGGGG Traffic Queuesss.....
But of course you have your personal reasons & budgets....
