Well, I just had to read up on the 'Bf' vs 'Me' question, and here is the answer.
It seems the prefix 'Bf' is in fact the correct one. Professor Willy Messerschmitt worked for Bayerische Flugzeugwerke ('Bf' for short), and all models of the 109 and 110 are correctly known as Bf-109 or Bf-110. Later Messerschmitt designs did have the official prefix of 'Me', such as the Me-262.
During the war the RAF referred to these models as 'Me-109 and Me-110', and a lot of books published soon after the war continued to use this incorrect prefix.
