Merry Christmas everyone first of all
I am wondering whether there isn't a business opportunity here? It seems that with some sound business acumen and a bit of industry expertise, a bunch of forward thinking aviators could take parts or all of such a failed business (or for that matter, buy out one of the other ailing smaller operations mentioned) and build something that makes a buck or two in due time?!
It seems that despite the obvious cost and other pressures that plague the industry, there is still a good business case for many operators and routes, and I am (naively?) optimistic that price elasticity may be better than some think..
Some interesting observations here (e.g. the use of flexible ticketing systems) point to the fact that there may be quite a bit of room for improvement at some operations.. Bringing an underperformer up to snuff in an otherwise globally expanding aviation market, in the midst of a buyoant national economy, doesn't sound impossible.
Am I being too optimistic, naive, or just right?
Bring it on!
