Stand 12

As far as stand 12 is concerned, until relatively recently it was a coaching only stand, but earlier in the year handling agents were given the choice of either walking or coaching from this stand, as this avoided unnecessary delays in the busy summer period when coach drivers were at a premium.

However, what seems to be happening more often is that handling agents are using their discretion and not providing coaches at all, thus leading to the increasing number of conflicts between inbound and outbound flights. This fact struck home most memorably last weekend, when an FCA Santa flight from Finland arrived back around 21:30, the temperature was just above freezing with a cold wind blowing, and because Servisair did not provide a coach, parents were forced to carry their tired and emotional young children from stand 12 to international arrivals. I'm not singling out Servisair for criticism here, on several occasions I have seen pax on Menzies flights walk through the rain to arrivals.

We would all like to see every flight have its own warm and dry airbridge, but realistically this isn't going to happen, and we just have to make the best of what we have.
