We are Untouchable!!!

We still expect you to answer your phone on O and G days, reduce physiological rest to minimum rest, use discretion when needed to maximum extent possible, 3 man ULH when needed to maximum discretion, acknowledge crew direct so the FDP does not start at the 4 hour mark when delayed, reduce normal rest to min rest, flying the freighter, not sign in for duty when you know there is a change of duty (as your FDP will start), etc

We realize that most pilots are doing this to help The Cathay Pacific Group but only small percentages are not. Ask around but most likely your friends will say they are not doing this out of retribution from fellow pilots.

Most pilots will say one thing and do another when Crew Control applies a small amount of pressure.

The Toronto base situation: we will do whatever we feel is necessary to protect the operation and our ASL pilots. If need be, we will convert them to passenger aircraft out of seniority. If you don’t like it, take us to court. It will only take about 5-7 years and then we would have a new COS making this go away.

We would rather promote out of seniority and go to court than to keep the Freighter agreement in place and not have pilots with the option of not flying the freighter. You see we have no choice and when we have no choice we will do whatever to protect the operation. Remember 2001?

You see, you are powerless to do anything about it and your AOA doesn’t have the funds to take us to court. They can hardly cover their own expenses let alone have another lawyer bill. Your committee simply cannot afford to take us to court. We know it and your AOA know it. You see, WE WIN YET AGAIN. I relish doing this to the pilots; it’s actually very easy. Now the cabin or ground staff is another situation.

We don’t care if you have a contract or not. It is our interpretation of the contract and it is we that say what is included or not. Agreements are just that, agreements and are binding in honor only. We will do what we want.

Most have accepted COS 08 and it will be implemented without any protest from the pilots or the AOA. Some may think this is illegal but we don’t really care. The Cathay Pacific Group does what it wants in Hong Kong. If you don’t like it leave, we have many applicants in the recruiting office to take your place.

We may be forced to increase pay and conditions to new joiners at our sister airline but we will not have that problem at Cathay Pacific.

To my bonus, which is rather HUGE I may add. Enjoy that rather small 13th month (those of you that still have it) and your 4 days of profit share you will receive next April. See paragraph one.

You are really a pathetic group.

It has been brought up that the AOA and DPA will join forces. Quite frankly, the DPA does not want to be brought down, as they believe they are on a high. We are looking at taking that momentum away by making an example of some pilots. We had free beer to locate the troublemakers and we are now reviewing their P Files for evidence to begin terminations.

If need be The Cathay Pacific Group is willing to take KA down to the bare skeleton and start over. Some may believe there are no pilots to do this but you are mistaken.

We will have new pilots joining Cathay Pacific with a CPA seniority number and second them to KA. When there time has come they will maintain their seniority number with Cathay and fly their respective position within the Cathay system.

While seconded to Dragonair, they will be allowed to bid for bases within Cathay and if successful, the base will be protected until the end of their secondment. We may hire these pilots as DEFO’s on a base with CX but if they are willing to be seconded to KA, we will protect their base for them until finished.

With the promise of a CX seniority number and a promise of a base slot, we will have no problems recruiting pilots to Dragonair. With KA being a skeleton, upgrades will be very quick and this will attract many applicants from hotter and dryer climates to be located closer to home and the promise of a base.

Just a reminder to our KA colleagues, we do what we want in Hong Kong. With regard to the law whether it be AFTL’s or contracts, we are untouchable. This is your warning.

To my bonus.
