Post Auxiliaries for RAF - Today's Times

From Brigadier Edward Wilkinson. . . . . . . .Sir, Your Defence Editor writes today that the Royal Air Force, like the Army, is extremely short of skilled manpower. . .When the United States Air Force found itself short of pilots during the Vietnam War and the airlines had an excess they gave excess pilots up to six months’ leave of absence without pay and the USAF took them on. Most of the pilots were reservists anyway and had come through USAF training. The arrangement suited both parties.

As BA and other airlines have a surplus, why not use the RAF Auxiliary Service to establish a similar scheme here to keep pilots and give the RAF pilots it probably trained in the first place to fill the vacancies?
