Some top notch recommendations there from Flying Lawyer and a big +1 on the River Cafe.
Also worth a visit is the Spotted Pig pub (314 W 11th St #1) in the West Village. Superb food (actually Michellin rated so my wife tells me), good value and a great atmosphere.
Don't forget the Empire State Building as well, but get there very early to avoid the massive queues.
