I'm puzzled by this obsession with Heathrow. It's a nightmare to change planes at; Londoners suffer overflights from planeloads of people who don't want or need to fly over London; and there are perfectly good alternative hubs, such as AMS. I say turn LHR into a regional airport serving west London and Berkshire, and build a new hub somewhere else - how about Machrihanish?
