If you own an aircraft worth millions of dollars, you may look at all aspects of the potential manager's operation, not just the upfront cost. I guess there's a general assumption that if someone is smart enough to earn enough money to buy a private jet, they have enough sense to have it operated sensibly, but it ain't neceessarily so.
For instance, some owners don't seem to inderstand that their safety is related to how well rested the flight crew are. Because the law says that ther are no flight time limitations (as with AOC/Part 135 ops) for private ops, some owners are quite happy to have their crew fly for well in excess of commercial maximums. Personally, I want any crew flying me to be awake. Hopefully they're a little more sensible about their maintainance.
