easyJet are flying LTN/LPL-Jersey from next Spring!

easyJet Press Release
easyJet to launch flights to Jersey!
easyJet, Europe's leading low-fares airline, today announced it will launch two new routes to Jersey from Liverpool and London Luton next spring, with daily flights commencing on 31 March and 21 April respectively.
Jersey is a new market for easyJet and the airline predicts the two new routes will be attractive to both business and leisure travellers alike, with close to 200,000 passengers expected to fly on the new services within the first 12 months of operation. easyJet recognises the great potential for further expansion in Jersey and is currently assessing further opportunities for growth in the future.
David Osborne, UK General Manager Commercial, said:
"This is an exciting development for easyJet, not only are we launching services to the island of Jersey for the first time, we are also opening up the market with two new currently un-served routes, connecting it with London Luton and Liverpool, providing direct access to the island, which we expect to be popular with both business and leisure passengers."
Jersey is the most southerly island of the British Isles and is the largest of the Channel Islands, providing visitors with a kaleidoscope of lush valleys, well-kept fields and an unspoilt coastline. The sea dominates the landscape with stunning views of the surrounding Atlantic Ocean accessible from virtually every point on the island. The 45 miles of coastline also offers a variety of majestic cliffs, sandy beaches and rocky coves.
Heading inland you can explore the 46 miles of green lanes where priority is given to walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Jersey is a perfect destination for a weekend break or a longer holiday, and ideal for family fun at any one of the attractions such as the ‘Maze and Adventure Park’ or ‘Durrell Wildlife Park'. The island is famed for its shopping, such as the St Helier shopping centre, thanks to its low duty on goods.
Jersey is also a popular business destination with numerous banks and businesses taking advantage of Jersey’s generous taxation scheme and its growing conference trade.
Seats for the new Liverpool service will be available for sale in the next seven days and seats for the Luton service will be available in the first week of December.

Atleast with easyJet flying the route, this should secure the route for the forseeable future. Unlike FlyBE and TommyFly who seem to start and stop routes all the time... Will be interesting to see if this will be flown by newly based aircraft or at the expense of another route (eg. One less rotation to BFS, EDI or GLA).

Looking forward to seeing what surprises the EZY timetable holds for Summer 08 from Luton.

Also noticed Marakesch has gone back on sale for next summer with ThomsonFly with 2-3 rotations a week. Anyone know if Tel Aviv will remain for next summer and how the route is doing?

Also heard on the grapevine that Monarch are interested in jumping on the band wagon and starting scheduled services to Sharm El Shiekh, not sure if this will materialise and if so what UK bases they choose to fly the route from? I would have thought that would be stretching the limits of the A320/321's based at LTN and also a fully laiden A321 at LTN would stuggle to clear the runway...
