There was an article in the Belfast Telegraph this evening about 'runway extension' points taken from it
1. Jim French said the runway was long enough - didn't need extended, and mentioned that FR have threatened to go up the road.
2. Ryanair replied with a mouthful of their usual abuse 'Flybe's plane's are old and crap etc', 'they are trying to prevent low fares coming to Belfast....
3. Mr Ambrose said that BHD had its busiest week ever 'with arrival of FR and popularity of existing carriers like BE'
4. FR will reconsider its base if the runway is not lengthened.
If and only if BHD got an extension to the runway, it would take years to get approval. One only has to look at other airports and their efforts into getting an extension. Frankly I would say the odds would be stacked against it. So basically if thats the case FR will be gone by next summer, what do you folks say. Let the flak begin.....
