I had always wondered about the identity of the sole survivor of the crash that killed my uncle Patrick James Neil Adshead. He was the pilot of Hampden AE266 that crashed on 31 July 1941 at RAF Upwood. All my life I've wondered if the sole survivor of that crash had survived the war and whether I would ever be able to speak to him of that day. I am glad that he did survive and live a long life and have a family, but sorry that I only discovered who he was a few months after his death. My condolences to his family.
