Has anyone now got the technical knowledge and mathematical ability to work out the odds of the cockpit voice recorder failing, and then being followed very shortly by a failure of the rudder mechanism. I could be wrong, but I think the probability of the one failure, times the probability of the other, assuming they are independent events, is so unlikely that a mechanical cause of the disaster is very unlikely.
