Goose used to tell the story about losing the engine out of the C180
He was luckily pretty low doing a sowing run when there was a hell of bang and tremendous vibration.
He reached for the throttle to close it but it disappeared through the instrument panel !
He didnt really know the engine had fell out because the TOP cowl was still in place ! All he did was haul the flap down and push like buggery.
(get your instructor to practise that emergency sometime kiddys)
I recall another chap wasnt as lucky and perished when the same thing happened to him in the cruise
