Bush Strips
G'day Chuck,
Things have changed quite a bit in the last few years. All the bush strips now belong to the local village or church or whatever. Government/CAA no longer responsible. If the owners do the maintenance, they get an air service - if not, they don't.
I was told by APNG, quite some years ago, that they began suspending services on un-maintained strips because they couldn't justify the replacement cost of a Twotter, if written off on take-off/landing due to the increasingly likely situation of an overly shabby surface. Other operators, including MAF, have followed suit.
